New ANSI Standards for Cut Resistance

In 2016, the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) announced an update to the ANSI/ISEA 105 standard for cut resistant gloves and sleeves. The 2016 edition introduced new classification levels that include a new scale to determine cut scores and a revised method for testing gloves to the standard. The new ANSI standard now features nine cut levels instead of the traditional five cut level classifications. By doing this, gaps between each cut level have been significantly reduced which helps define protection levels with the highest gram scores. To differentiate from the old score level, the new ANSI cut levels now feature an “A” in front of the score. See the chart below that highlights the difference between the old and new scale levels.
